DESIGN BITES is a new series of informal design, making and innovation talks over a cuppa. Pop out at lunchtime for 30 minutes of fresh thinking and conversation at the ID2015 Design Hub at Dublin Castle. These bite-sized talks are a curated range of informative snapshots from designers, makers and innovators. Connecting with themes within Irish Design 2015 exhibitions, DESIGN BITES aims to spark conversation, share ideas and spur new collaborations. Bring your sandwich and we’ll provide the tea, biscuits and design ideas for you to chew on.
ID2015 is delighted to welcome Gazel Designs to talk in this first series of DESIGN BITES, programmed to complement the ID2015 Design Hub, Dublin Castle inaugural exhibition In The Making, curated as a touring exhibition for the Design Museum in London by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.
Gazel was founded in 2014 as a contemporary design studio that lives by the motto 'rethink the everyday'. Gazel focuses on bringing invention, ease and elegance to modern homes and interiors. Led by award-winning Irish designers Ronan Murphy and Kevin Doherty, they formed Gazel while studying at the National College of Art & Design in Dublin, Ireland. Recognising a courageous and creative drive in each other, they left established careers for a new and better way of living.
With a shared passion for thoughtful and inviting design, they approach their work with over twenty years experience in manufacturing, craft, multi-media, and of course, product design. The result is a unique combination of beauty and convenience at the heart of every design. Overseeing their creations throughout the entire development process, they promise the highest quality in form and finish. Interested in exploring functionality and ergonomics with an avant-garde style, Gazel designs everyday objects, focusing on details to produce beautiful solutions for clever living.
