FAMILY DAY DESIGN WORKSHOPS: Print cutout with print and textiles designer Caroline Ryan

14.02.2015
10.30am – 1.00pm

ID2015 Design Hub at Dublin Castle

There will be two 60 minute workshops; starting at 10.30am and 12 noon.

Irish Design 2015 programmes a diverse and exciting range of family day design workshops, which explore the current exhibitions through playful experimentation with materials, techniques and ideas. On the second and last Saturday of every month we invite young makers and their families to the ID2015 Design Hub at the Coach House, Dublin Castle, to take part in hands-on design and crafting workshops starting with a tour of the gallery – specially designed to get you in the mood for creating.

Exploring In The Making exhibition, this week we examine intriguing repeat patterns found in the making processes of cork bottle-stoppers, tennis balls and the Olympic torch, which each use stamping cutout methods. Print and textile designer Caroline Ryan will guide children in making their own cork cutout shapes from cork tiles to create printing blocks. Through a fun workshop children and families will use these cutouts to explore simple print block techniques to create unique repeat patterns on tote bags.

These 60 minute hands-on workshops are designed for children from five and up with parents/guardians. Places are limited, to book your place email: DesignHub@IrishDesign2015.ie.
