Renowned Spanish designer Martí Guixé will give a public lecture on design and creativity followed by a conversation with Dr Lisa Godson. The lecture will explore the concept of the ex-designer, discussing his most recent works, as well as projects key from his early career in the context of design of edible objects, performances, interaction and instruction, new typologies and business models.
An interior and product designer, Guixé became an important innovator in food design challenging the way we consider food; in his work food becomes an edible designed product, an object that negates any reference to cooking, tradition and gastronomy. Guixé as a food designer builds edible products that are ergonomic, functional, communicative, interactive, visionary but radically contemporary and timeless.
Martí Guixé will discuss the concept of ex-designer, which began in 2001 as a definition of his design activities and emerged as a consequence of the de-contextualisation attributed to his workThe concept has been evolving since and now is a brand that manufactures products designed by ex-designers. www.ex-designer.com
