DESIGN BITES is a new series of informal design, making and innovation talks over a cuppa. Pop out at lunchtime for a 30 mins of fresh thinking and conversation at the Design Hub @ Dublin Castle. These bite-sized talks are a curated range of informative snapshots from designers, makers and innovators. Connecting with themes within Irish Design 2015 exhibitions, DESIGN BITES aims to spark conversation, share ideas and possibly spur new collaborations. Bring your sandwich and we’ll provide the tea, biscuits and design ideas for you to chew on.
ID2015 are delighted to welcome Andrew Clancy to talk in this first series of DESIGN BITES, which programmed to complement the Design Hub @ Dublin Castle inaugural exhibition In The Making, curated as a touring exhibition for the Design Museum in London by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.
Architect and designer Andrew Clancy studied architecture at Univeristy College Dublin, graduating in 2001. He established Clancy Moore Architects with Colm Moore in 2006. Since then the practice has gained significant attention and awards both domestically and internationally. The work of the practice is concerned with examining craft and other traditions of making and using these to create a unique, place-specific way of making buildings. The practice is currently designing a wide range of building and interiors from domestic to high profile public commissions.
Andrew Clancy recently established Deanta Design, a practice concerned with crafting beautiful spaces and objects through a close and collaborative relationship with craftspeople.
The quality of the resultant work of both Clancy Moore and Deanta been borne out by numerous awards and publications.
